About Madhusree Mitra

Since February 2021, I’ve been a postdoctoral researcher at Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC), working on wood cell wall chemistry. My current research explores how chromatographic techniques can help us understand modifications in the wood cell wall—especially focusing on the cuticle and suberin layers. Think of me as an amateur Sherlock decoding aliphatic–polysaccharide bonds to uncover the hidden secrets of poplar. Outside the lab, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, photography, music, podcasts, and indulging in thoughtful (or spontaneous) conversations—depending on my mood. While I identify as an introvert, I do have my talkative moments! I joined the Umeå Postdoc Society to connect with fellow researchers across disciplines and to contribute to a supportive postdoc community.
