Welcome to the Umeå Postdoc Society!
On the 2nd of October we had our very first event with the kick-off.
The registration for the event exceeded by far our expectations with over 100. Due to SARS-CoV-2 we could just have a small number of participants locally while a lot of interested postdocs attended the event via Zoom. Together with Magnus Wolf-Watz and Oliver Billker we introduced the Umeå PostDoc Society, the importance it has for postdocs but also for PIs at the university. We then shared how we are working as the organizational committee, what our vision is to do in the future and on which projects we are currently working (one was this website). At the end, we had a very fruitful discussion with participants about what they wish from the UPS and which kind of events we should organize next. We are very happy about the feedback we got on site but also from attendees over Zoom. We will take those suggestions and wishes into account and are looking forward to the next events.
