SUMMARY:Ice skating & BBQ
DESCRIPTION:Have no plans for Valentine’s Day?\nCome along with us as we go ice-skating in Tavelsjö on Saturday\, 14th of February.\nTransport tickets\, skate rentals\, and BBQ food are personal expenses\, while the fire/BBQ organisation is on us! Please register! \nIf you have little experience with ice skating\, we recommend figure skates with good ankle support\, and poles which are available at Fritidsbanken: https://www.fritidsbanken.se/fritidsbank/umea/ The skates rented at Sundlingska are long-distance skates\, which can be challenging for beginners. If you still want to try them\, make sure to wear shoes with good ankle support. An even safer alternative is a spark (kick sled)\, which can be borrowed from the café. If you borrow a spark (free for café customers)\, you can move on the ice in your regular shoes (it’s not too slippery)\, or in shoes with spikes. The ice track also offers skate and pole rentals\, which must be booked in advance: https://isbana.taik.se/eng/uthyrning.aspx \nWe will travel to and from Tavelsjö by Bus 16. The morning bus departs at 10:00 from Universitetsjukhuset or 10:10 from Vasaplan (platform M). Return buses to Umeå run at 15:07 and 18:46. A one-way ticket costs 73 SEK\, and the day entrance ticket to the track is 60 SEK. \nWe will make a fire and have a BBQ afterwards\, so please bring whatever you would like to grill. Alternatively\, food can be purchased at the café or at the nearby ICA. Transport tickets\, skate rentals\, and BBQ food are personal expenses\, while the fire/BBQ organisation is on us 🔥. DESCRIPTION:Dear Postdocs\, Winter is upon us\, and UPS invites you to enjoy the vårvinter (spring-winter) sun at the sea! This time\, we explore Strömbäck Kont’s Naturreservat on Saturday\, 14 March 2026. HIKE DETAILS: \n\nWe take the Bus 126 at 9 am sharp from Vasaplan\, platform M. Yes\, it is a bit early for some\, I know\, but there are not that many buses running this time of the year 🙂\nThe track will lead us from Strömbäck village down to the top of the peninsula. The entire distance should be between 10 and 16 km\, depending on our mood and the snow conditions.\nThe Bus 126 takes us back at 3.20 pm to Vasaplan M\, where we arrive about 30 minutes later\n\nWE MEET: Saturday\, 14 March\, 8.50 am at Vasaplan\, platform M (check the link!
