SUMMARY:Winter Hike
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the second winter hike of 2023! We will hike from Tjälamark\, near Umeå on road 363\, to Hamptjärnsberget and then back to Umeå through the western suburbs of the city. \n  \nThe hike is 9 km in total\, with a climb of about 70 meters and a descent of about 120 meters. We will enjoy views of Umeå and make a fire to warm up and grill some food. At the mountain there is also a cafeteria that sells traditional waffles and fika sweets (apart from hot and cold drinks). You can even bring your cross-country skis or a snow sled to enjoy an authentic Umeå winter experience! \nMore information and registration link here: FORM \nIt is very important that you register for this event so we can make sure to begin the hike as a group!  \n  \nWHEN: Saturday\, March 4th\, at 10.00 AM \nWHERE: We will meet at the Umeå Universitetssjukhuset bus stop at 10.00 AM to catch Bus number 16 (destination Vindeln) which departs at 10.10 AM. DESCRIPTION:Dear postdocs\, \nWe want to invite you to a new recurring UPS activity to boost your creativity\, silence your inner critic\, and have some fun: on Thursday 10th August we will be launching the UPS Improv Club. \nOne evening every month we will hold drop-in sessions at the KBC atrium to practice our improvisational skills with a series of games and exercises. The main aim of these sessions will be to practice thinking outside the box\, explore and have fun together in a safe space. \nWe also hope these sessions will help you develop transferable skills:\n– Perhaps you want to become a more comfortable and confident speaker?\n– Would you like to see what unexpected creativity you release when you let go of your inner critic and go with the flow?\n– Would you like to practice active listening and improve your collaboration skills?\n– Or are you simply looking to meet some likeminded people and have some fun? \nEveryone is welcome. This is not department/faculty specific\, so feel free to bring along your non-postdoc friends too.
